Over the last 150 years certain stamp issues have attracted the attention of large numbers of forgers. For others, the number of forgeries emanating from even a single forger outnumber the entire production of the genuine issue by a factor of ten or more.
The literature on these items is often voluminous but much of it is scattered over different publications, many of which are long out of print. That which is still available often dates from a time when facilities for illustration were poor, judged by modern standards, and any pictorial representations of genuine and forged items included were presented at a size or resolution that is of limited use for the purposes of classification.
The aim of this site is ,for a limited number of issues in the above categories, to summarise the information that is available to me, and to present this together with illustrations of items from my collection that are of adequate size and resolution to enable unequivocal classification of genuine and forged material.
